Pointillism and Cubism Research
Pointillism
Cubism
Cubism is a type of painting technique. Some key visual elements of cubism are the geometric shapes used to make the art pieces and the way that the shapes are put in to and arranged so that they make an abstract painting. Cubism was an avant-garde art movement in the early 20th century that was pioneered by Pablo Picasso and George Braque. Cubism revolutionized European painting and sculpture. It even inspired some movements in music, literature, and architecture. Due to influencing art, music, literature, and architecture, it has been considered as the most influential art movement of the 20th century. In cubism art pieces, instead of getting depicted in only one way, the artist depicts the subject in many different ways. When I first saw a cubism art piece, I was very impressed by how each painting could be interpreted in more than one way. I also thought that it was very cool and I was very impressed by how the artists were able to use some geometric shapes and make them into cubism art pieces that could be interpreted in many different ways.
This art piece is a cubism painting by Georges Braque. It was made in 1908 on an oil on canvas and it is called "Viaduct at L'Estaque". It is a very good example of a typical cubism art piece due to the geometric shapes used in this painting.
